Be Cautious!

I was sent a question regarding Benny Hinn a famous tele-evangelist, I posted the question below. We need to be careful of those who come forward and proclaim the name of Christ. The Bible teaches us that there will be false prophets that will arise. Also we need to protect the Scriptures so that people such as Benny Hinn can't twist them. People need to be saved, I am not saying that no one watching Benny Hinn's show has ever gotten saved but we cannot allow false teachers to continue without performing church discipline because they can lead others astray.

Benny Hinn also claims to do "Faith Healing" It is clear that these spiritual gifts ended when the Canon was complete. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 Perfect in this verse refers to complete.

Worrying

Does worrying have a place? Should we as Christians worry or should it be better defined as being apprehensive about something. Would this denote that our trust is not great enough in God to provide for our needs? Some scripture on this would be nice!

Uncomfortable Death

Why do people seem to be sooooo uncomfortable about death? For someone that does not know what is going to happen to them after they die you would think that it would be the question that nearly consumes their life. Yet most people seem to go about life living as though they will never die. Should not death be a concern for everyone?

Fatherhood

I learned recently that I am going to be a father. My wife is pregnant and is due in March. I imagine that there are a few other people out there in this situation.

Here are a few questions that may help a father in raising his children: (Please provide verses to explain.)

1. What is the #1 job of a father?

2. What should the daily life of a father be? (Schedule...)

3. What is the best way of discipline for disobedience?

4. How should a mother and a father "mesh" together to be on the same page when it comes to decision making?

How Should we vote?

Looking at the elections seems to be a confusing battle for some people. Should we vote at all given the cadidates? Should we vote on values? Or vote purely on who we think would be best at leading this country?
I tend to lean toward the idea that freedom in our very imperfect world is not free any try to vote according to who I believe will protect us best to maintain our freedoms.
What I would like is for people to add to this or comments on their ideas, try to point to some bible verses that could help to instruct us on how to vote.

Talk in the office

It is very disturbing to me sometimes when I am in the office and get into a group conversation with everybody. Things are accepted that shouldn't be. They give praise to one guy for divorcing his wife and say he can now, "have some fun." They joke around about who they were "with" the night before. I wonder how they see this as fulfilling in their lives. They lift each other up and gamble and even put down our boss who is a true fellow Christian. One of the guys I think is going to have lunch with me in the near future. :) I'll try to spread the good news with him then.

I walked out of the building a couple of weeks ago, they were saying that my wife really would like unnatural relations with other women. When I told them that she thought it was gross, they said that I didn't know her well enough and that deep down she really did. All of the guys in our office were laughing at this, I simply walked out and the guy that started it came out and apologized later.

A verse has really stuck out in my mind lately, "Although they know full well God's just sentence--that those who practice such things deserve to die--they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them." Romans 1:32

How true is this?!! Take a look at some of the people around you who are caught up in their sins and watch how they interact with each other. Give some feedback here on what you find out. Am I just imagining things or has Satan gathered his forces against us and use others around us to encourage us to sin. Have little tolerance for course language, I forgot who said it but the quote goes, "If you fill your life with trash, you're going to start smelling like it." I would like find some other viewpoints on this.

How Can "Christians" Say This Is OK?????????????????????

I have a question about Christianity. How in the world can anyone who associates with the name of Christ agree with abortion?

This had me BAWLING as I was watching it. I don't even have children yet, but how can people do this??? And even worse, how can CHRISTIANS do this? How can anyone proclaim the name of Christ yet do this HORRIFIC ACT OF MURDER?!

Why do I put a video up like this? Because of the "Christians" who believe this is OK, and for the "Christians" who murder the unborn... because it is beyond me how anyone can call themselves a "Christian" and do this act. Statistics show that the amount of abortions that professing "Christians" have and the worldly people have are EQUAL.

Video Games

We're in the information age now, TVs, computers, gaming systems, cell phones, and many other technologies have been introduced rather recently, in comparison to other things.

What does this mean according to how we are supposed to live as Christians and how we are supposed to raise our kids in Christ?

The TV we can simply change a channel if we don't like whats on or put a lock on the ratings, with cell phones we can get a detailed billing, the internet we can put a filter on. But what are we hearing about the video games? Many parents don't realize what is out there as far as the games and how racy some of them can get. As we know the ratings aren't always accurate and also kids can get games if they really want them, just because the local game store won't let them get the games because of their age doesn't mean they won't be able to get them.

What does the bible say about this? Ephesians 5:3-6 3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.^[a] 6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
Ephesians 5:11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Lets look at the first verse...

sex, impurity, greed, obscenity, coarse joking are spoken against. Now understand that I am not naming every game out there, but rather some of them that stick out. Well, many games now include these things in them, some of the more obvious ones are: The Playboy mansion game, Leisure Suite Larry, and Grand Theft Auto.

Now the first two deal directly with sex, In The Playboy Mansion game you actually walk around and try to influence women. Here are some of the lines off of Leisure Suit website: "Leisure Suit Larry went from a great idea, to a great idea with explicit graphics and very nice adult content. Nothing has been censored, you'll have all the fun with all the details. That's what we like to see!" and "Because his uncle was famous with the ladies, Larry tries to imitate him with strange methods attempting to get the girls into bed."

Grand Theft Auto is of a different breed than the last two. The sex in the game is a little more obscure to the average person just watching the game. You can drive around the city and look for women (prostitutes) and have them hop in the car with you and the car will start bouncing around, it gives you health too. The game is based off of greed you can walk around and shoot anyone and take their money, you can even shoot cops and military people in the game as well! I personally would never want anybody to play this game. It praises breaking the law with almost no consequences. (Cops will go after you if they catch you.) A downright violent and horrible game.

I'm not saying all games are bad, a person just has to be selective. Why are we allowing games like guitar hero with songs that are not biblical in nature be played in our Churches, or Halo and other violent shooting games? Most of those games don't even depict an actual event that took place in our world. Many of then swear constantly in the game as well such as Gears of War.(you can also saw a person in half with a chainsaw in that game as well... eck!)

These are not things to be placing into our minds or the minds of our children. Believe me when I say that when you focus more on the world than on the word of God that it is easy to condemn yourself to hell and break his commandments for the pleasure of the occasion. Teach your children not to create idols of the games or the systems, anytime that anything becomes more important than God to them they are creating an idol for themselves and should be in fear of the judgment to come.

I became mixed up in all of this and other fruitless deeds until one day when I was on the Internet and ran across Ray Comfort's blog. It was there that I learned of true repentance, and finally turned away from sin.

Remember to watch what your kids are doing. You should never be too busy to keep a close eye on your children. Ask them to show you their favorite game. Maybe try to play a bit of it to see if you approve of it. And teach them to discern what is good and moral in the eyes of God!

Popularity Contest

Have our churches sunk so low that they are now in a popularity contest? It seems as though they are sooo concerned with the fact that they don't want to offend people and some are almost obsessed with being politically correct. Where's any mention of sin or repentance? So, what does this do to a church when the Pastors are trying to win over people by being nice instead of teaching God's word in the right context?
